Entry-level or Junior Level structural engineer servicing the Hamon Custodis and Research Cottrell Cooling groups within the Hamon Corporation. These two companies provide comprehensive engineering and project services for power/industrial plants in new and aftermarket construction for chimney, cooling tower, and silo product lines

Key Responsibilities and Job Function


  • Work on assignments that include investigating, trouble-shooting and solving a wide variety of structural engineering issues.
  • Perform structural analysis and design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, equipment supports, wooden and FRP structures.
  • Develop integrated structural designs and perform supporting calculations for the planned work.
  • Prepare preliminary design drawings as needed for review and field installation.
  • Perform reviews of existing facilities to propose upgrades and replacements, and present findings and recommendations to clients and peers.
  • Communicate with client and vendor offices for design reviews and visit site locations as needed for construction coordination and field verification of designs.
  • Work with project teams to evaluate conditions and propose modifications to various design and construction aspects of various projects.
  • BS or MS civil engineering with structural focus from an accredited university
  • Internship experience desired, but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of steel and concrete design as per AISC 360 and ACI 318 codes.
  • Basic skills of AutoCAD or similar design software.
  • Basic skills of STAAD or similar finite element software.
  • Individual has either passed or is working towards passing Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Exam.
  • Proficient in MS Word and Excel.

Critical requirements and skills

  • BS or MS civil engineering with structural focus from an accredited university
  • Internship experience desired, but not required.
